Hello i am new to all this co2 thing but i have made a homemade co2 system .
Were i have 1 bottle of warm water with yeast and surgar i have put 2 spoon full of yeast and 3 spoons of surgar into warm water .
I then have that going to another bottle a bubble counter then the buble counter going into the tank .
my problem is i have no 1 way vaule i just bought one from ebay which should be here in 2 days
so i have put the bottles on top of the tank so the siven thing can;t happen the bubbles are working fine and everything is fine but the mixrure in the first bottle is bubling and frofing and going into the tube into the buble counter
i think its because i put two much yeat in ???
or is it cus i got it on top of the tank ??

i put 2 starches in of the yaste

how big is the tank? and how big is the bottle you have added the yeast to?

ps, DIY yeast is very unlikely to kill your fish BTW.

Its 2L the bottle and my tanks
340L
Dimensions 121 x 51 x 55.5 (LxDxH)
its a 4ft tank

I was told by a video tut that if the yest goes into the tank the fish would die ??
im thinking about making a new mixture with 1 starch of yeaste if that is how you spell it

you'll need to do a water change (25%), as the yeast tends to float to the top. Maidenhead sell non return valve and so do Pets at Home, so i'd probably remove the yeast cos and get one tomorrow.

So it ment to float to the top ? i ent done anything wrong ?
The problem is that the first bottle 2L bottle is frofing into the second bottle which is 2L
But i guess if i put a no return valve between them both it will still come though ?
Everything else is fine just keeps frofing ay 2 much any idea's ?
I still think the mixture is wrong ... and making way 2 much co2 ....
and i live in the middle of no were i did go into mt diy store and they didn't even sell the pipe ...

no it's not meant to enter the tank...but if it does it will tend to sit on the surface.

have a read of this

I have a few questions im stuck with
" Everything I had been told and ignored was right!!! You can't use yeast on anything but a <70litre tank. Even then its inconsistent. It had all been true...........or had it? "

I have a 340 L LOL so this yeast will not work for a 340 L ???

I have also seen the pics and it looks like he has 2 yeast bottles. Could i do that ? and if so would i need another 2 bottles because at the moment i have 1 yeast bottle going into bubble test bottle then into the tank .
So would i need to repeat that again ? or could i have 2 yeast bottles going into one bubble counter ??
or would it be better with 2 bubble counters and 2 lines into the tank ?

I have changed the mix now from 2 spoons of yeast to 1 spoon and it is not going into the bubble tester

sorry about bumping but do need help any one ???

I've made a few diy co2 systems, but I am a terrible picture drawer and not too good at explaining. But I will try. Bottle #1 has the yeast mixture. From there, a hose should come into the second bottle under the water line. A second hose should be up higher in the #2 bottle, above the water level, through the cap and into the tank. This is where the one way valve should be located, in the line that goes into the tank. It keeps the tank water from back syphoning into the bottles and causing a big mess.

Thanks. I have it working now but it comes and goes for some resson .

I have 2 coke bottles with the mix in. I have them 2 coke bottles going into a bubble counter ( another bottle ) with the pipes under water . Then i have a pipe cumming out of that bubble counter going into the 1 way vaule and into the tank.

My mix is 2 spoons of yeast 300 grams of sugar and warm water ( not boiling )

I have the 3 bottles on top of the tank ( higher than the water level )
I donno if this would make the bubbles come out slow or ....

But for some resson i have 2 mix bottles and still cumming out slow ....... and some times doesn't work for a hour or 2 ....

Also the mix has got lower and lower in the bottles .........

Your tank is too big for DIY CO2, the distribution of the gas will be terrible and result in all sort of problems.
