Think they are 8mm but never seen someone use one for aquarium CO2.

Well FE's last a long time, even the 2KG ones, I also use 5KG'sand they last nearly a year.

I've heard of their use. Generally only by people with good access to them as they tend to turn out more expensive to maintain than the FE's.
