I'd like to get rid of the Nutrafin ladder I'm currently using as A I don't think it's that effective and B it's pretty ugly. Can anyone recommend me a good alternative to be using with a JBL kit?

An inline reactor would be good for bigger tanks :) are you using a canister filteR ? Are JBL kits pressurized kits ? If so you also could use those jumbo ceramic diffusers.

Yes it's a pressurised kit. Been having a look at a DIY reactor and it doesn't seem too difficult. Do they work OK with pH controllers?

Hiya,

You could try the Aquamedic Reactor M. Its a self powered reactor, with a pump and backplate to mount it to the glass. It's very efficient, if a little noisy. Mine has shut up now that it has been in the tank a month. It keeps my DIY setup fairly stable, but with a controller and pressurised C02, it would be a great addtion. It's around £32.
