How compatable would be a few clowns with a dwarf lionfish? And could I add an anenome. I'm thinking my first choices are clowns and anenome and if I could get a small dwarf lionfish that would be cool. Please help me

I'd have thought that the clowns would be ok with a dwarf lionfish provided they were too large to be eaten (although I could be wrong). However anenomes are really quite hard (and expensive) to maintain- I wouldn't recomend one for your first saltwater tank, and if you really want to please research it's needs- very high water quality/ intense lighing.

The lionfish are cool, but I think you sacrifice too much as far as tankmate possibilities by choosing one.

Anemones are pretty hard. You may have trouble keeping one in your first tank, especially with a big waste-producer like a lion (think ammonia). How big is this tank?

Hope you're up for a challenge . . . .

Tank is a 30g and would get a baby dwarf lion. They got a 2 incher my lfs.

Always up for challegne

How long has the tank been running for? Anemones are well known for being rather touchy. They shouldn't really be added unless the tank is well established and has been running for about a year. They are slow reproducers and, due to the latest "nemo" craze, are in danger of getting even rarer on their native reefs. Clown fish don't actually need anemone as alot of people think, they will bond with pretty much anything put into the tank. Maybe something to think about, alot cheaper and alot less likely to die on you.

how big to dwarf lions get?

I was under the impression that 8" is a good size for them... (eg max)

Surly that and 2 clowns is over stocked :dunno:

(P.S. i havent started our reef tank yet and dont mean this post to be nasty...
Its just that we decided against starting our 35 as marine as it would only really allow us to get 3 small fish in it, I may have just been over cautious with our stocking levels...)
