While feeding my clownfish today I noticed that both of them have white bumps on the top of their heads right above/between their eyes. They've been eating well and acting normal, but I'm worried that the bumps may be fatal or contagious. I removed the little guys from the tank and will keep them out until I find a solution to the problem. Tank mates include: an anemone, one african starfish, one chromis, one snowflake eel, one comet grouper, and a fuzzy dwarf lionfish that was added two days ago.
Tank stats: 80.5 degrees F
SG 1.022
Ammonia level is normal
Ph 7.8
All other levels are at 0 except for nitrate which is at 20. For some reason I haven't been able to get that to go down.

hmm could possible be whitespot. If you have them in a seperate tank I would leave them there for the moment and keep a close watch on them. If they develop more spots then I would treat them (in the seperate tank) for ich.

That said however I have once or twice noticed little spots on my clowns (not quite white and not really looking like ich). It never developed to anything and they where always healthy and eating well so not sure if it a mild ich outbreak or something else. I guess its possible for fish to get mild skin problems the same as people do occasionally?

How big is your tank? You do realise that the fuzzy lionfish will probably eventaully eat your little clowns

Yeah sorry I didnt really read the rest. SG may be a bit low for the nem too,

As Barney says, SG needs increasing and the nitrates need reducing - massive water change would help with the nitrates.

So we really need to know how big is the tank, how new is the set-up?
