Hi there,

Today just bought a new Clown Loach from my local fish shop, when the lad took the fish out of the tank he drop it on the floor then managed to get him in the bag!! Crazy I know, anyway will he be ok? How damaged could he be from flapping around on the floor? Anyone else had this before?

Cheers
Kyle

They prefer to be in groups, so 3 minimum, 4 or more is better. They also grow large, so you'll want to have a nice size tank for them eventually. Barring that, the fish should be okay. Just keep an eye out for discoloration like red streaks, white spots, odd growths or bulges. Also, they sometimes play dead by lying on their sides but this is normal behavior.

Thanks,

I know already about the bahavior like lieing on there side, I have 1 in already before today and would like at least 3 but the tank is still new so I cant really put 3 in at the minute but plan to. It was just concerning that he may be hurt of flapping around on the floor

KyleJ,

didn't you post a newbie question saying that this is a new cycling tank? and that one of your clowns died already? i thought you were advised to take your existing clown back (as not suitable for cycling!!), not buy a new one? did the lfs say this was ok?, also, giving bad advise and dropping fish, i would steer very clear of this shop!
