hi, any advice please.. ive noticed that 1 of my clown loaches belly has swollen and it's just lying around. i dont know how long its been like this but thought it was looking bigger last night. it can swim if it wants to but chooses not to. if i didn't know better i would say it looks pregnant but i know this is very unlikely...

Its very rare for clown loaches to breed in tanks will get you some info.
How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type,
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
What do you feed your fish.
I would cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers into small peices, and add to the tank.

its a 240 ltr tank, water stats are fine, populated with 2 clowns, red taled shark, plec, sucking loach, angel and some platties and mollies. will cook some peas now..

Clown loaches eat veg and peas are good in there diet.
Have you been feeding to many bloodworms.

bloodworms? maybe once a week. main diet of tank is algae wafers. flake and some floating food..

Need a better diet more frozen foods in brimestrimp and daphnia which is very good at digesting a fish food.
Some veg in there diet.

to add from yesterday when i looked again the clownloachs eyes were a bit pop eyed i have come to the conclusion that it is suffering from an internal bacterial infection, so i treated with interpet number 9 anti internal bacteria update is he/she is still alive but not swimming does any body have any sujestions on this i dont want to lose the fish but i dont want to see it suffer.

Dropsy and popeye are closely related due to the build up of fluids.
You added the correct med.
Epson salt baths are meant to help draw the fluids out.
Good luck.

help please! he doesnt seem to have got any better now he has red area round its backend will he recover from this i have seperated him from the others but it is still in the same tanki just want to know will the fish be able to recover or should it be put out of its misery what are the chances of recovery from dropsy and popeye

When you say red around his back end do you mean anus.
Red patches can be septicemia.

Ok he's in a bad way and looking like he won't make it.
Has his breathing changed.

That interpet anti internal bacteria med is only good on mild bacteria infections, once the bacteria infection has progressed the chances of saving the fish are slim.
You will no when to end its suffering.
Give him another day.
Good luck.

when would you think it is time to do that giving that the med has been in there just over a day, i would like to save him but i dont want it to suffer, thanks alot for giving us some good advice
