Hello,

I am very new to this and unfortunately my clown loach have white spot. Also, so have a couple of my rummy nose tetras. I have treated them with interpret anti whitespot no.6 once and they get their second dose on Sunday. I just need a little advice really. I caught it relatively early when one of my 3 clown loach had one spot on its tail. The next day each of the loach had 5-6 spots so I treated them immediately to their first dose. Anyway, am I correct in thinking that they will get worse before they get better? Because I need to wait until the trophont falls off and then the tomonts will be susceptible to the treatment? I.e. the trophonts will develop on their skin for a couple of days and make the fish worse before they get better? I am only concerned because I started the treatment 2 days ago and the loaches seem worse than when I started the treatment. Does that make sense? They are hiding a lot.

Also, the water went very blue for a couple of hours when I added the interpret gear. It then cleared very quickly but I dont have a carbon filter, just a juwel filter all with dark green media. Does it usually clear that quickly?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Olympics opening ceremony. I will be very grateful for any help you can provide me with.

With kindest regards, Will

My last case of whitespot was decades ago so I can't comment on the effects that your medication will have on the water but I would think that any colouring would go quickly due to dilution as much as anything else. Since your loaches actually have whitespot and you are also putting toxic (to the organism) stuff in the water I would think there is every chance that your fish might be feeling a little under the weather.

When I first read your post I mistakenly thought you said you had carbon in your filter, good job I was wrong. Once you have cleared the infection you can use carbon to take out the last meds but certainly not yet.

You seem to have got things well in hand. Just thought I'd give an input, to show there is always someone here.

Many thanks shiny. Fingers crossed all will go well. No whitespot for decades? That's pretty cool. I can see you're a clown loach fan yourself. They are incredible fish. Fingers crossed they all recover fully I love them, they have such fantastic characters.

Thanks again.

Will

Oh yes, I am still trying to get my current lot to feed from my hand. They look like they are going to as I can stand right up against the tank without them getting concerned but they won't come closer to my fingers than about 3 inches. I have better luck with bloodworm but it's the smaller ones that come up and take food -- but still an inch or so away. I'll get there.
