i am getting a 4ft tank on tuesday its 240l i really want to get some clown loaches is my tank to small. i have done a lot of research and some say 4ft min and others say 6ft min. can anyone on here let me know the tank is 120x35.5x66 cm i will be cycling it first then i will be stocking with
3 clown loaches
10 green tiger barbs
1 ruby shark
10 zebra danio
over a few weeks thanks in advance

Personally I dont know about clown loaches I have never kept them, but I did have a red tail black shark with 10 tiger barbs (mix of green and normal) in a 4ft tank and the shark attacked and killed most of them once he grew. I have been told the ruby shark is more docile than the rtbs.

thanks for that was going to get them first after the cycle i will have to find a lfs that sell a ruby shark havent seen one around they all sell rtbs

I still have my RTBS (he now lives with a turtle) some people never have a problem with them but others do. They can be quite agressive. I hope your find a ruby.

to keep them in idel conditions you will need more than 3 and probably a larger tank

Hi

RTBS are "cute" when small but are nasty pieces of work when older. Your LFS wont give a fig just like the ones selling oscars to people with 10G tanks - they aren't community fish

Clowns are great fun when small and are fantastic fish when older but they live a VERY long time and get quite large and deep if you are lucky enough to keep them alive. If you get your clowns to 14" long and 4-5" deep in the body you will need a 6' tank but that is a problem 8-10 years away. If you can grow them big plenty of people will be willing to buy them from you as you never see big fish for sale

IMPO, your stocking lacks a centre piece.........10 bards and 10 danios wont set the world on fire.it will look a bit empty and boring

can you suggest a centre piece fish to go with the ones listed

You'll need to get at least 4-5 clowns, they like to be in groups.

I would add more tiger barbs, maybe a different colour strain. nothing like a huge school of tiger barbs

OMG I just had a shock reading this, I thought someone else was using my id until I saw the date, lol!

LOL i didnt see the date.....it was on my list of new threads....not sure why when no one had posted to it????
