I bought two Clown fish last Saturday.

It was obvious from the start one was big and strong and one wasn;t.

The bigger one is active fully coloured and has eaten everything put in which hasn;t been that much

the smaller one hasn't eaten since I got it and you can see its skinnier and not showing the black markings that outline the white

its also breathing heavily and staying in a particular section near the bottom and not the top

I have checked water stats and they are fine ie ammonia, ph, nitrate and nitrite

the temp is fine as well and I moved powerhead so that surface was being moved but still no change

now my tank is new and I realise I have probably rushed more than is advised but one is spot on and this one hasn;t been right since I got it just more noticeable now

any advice please?

cheers Simon

This is a tricky one, because if you remove it the other will probably not have it back in the tank without problems.

I'm wondering as there are no signs of external parasites or growths that this could be internal parasites. I would probably remove to another container and try treating but don't hold out much hope i'm afraid.

If you lose the poor chap then buy the smallest, healthiest clown you can find and introduce with lights out

they were new stocl in the LFS as well so I;m with you that he's probably a goner due to an internal parasite. its a shame when you get a fish like that

Top tip here Simon:

Choose your fish and say you will pick up in two weeks :good: I know its hard to wait, but most times if anything is going to happen it will happen in their tank and not yours
