I changed the water entirely (I know, I know, bad idea) but I was getting tank rot underneath an ornament.. and it smelled bad, and I'm sure wasn't good for the fish. I didn't lose any in the process.

it's a 75 gallon, with 5 paradise fish, 2 zebra danios and a rosy barb.

It became murky pretty quickly after the complete change, which was a while ago.

I've been putting it off, I know, but I haven't had any losses or illnesses, so I know it's not bad for them, but it doesn't look so great, and I'm ready for my crystal clear water back.

About a week after it got murky, I added some activated carbon to my emporer, in the grey trays, because it recommends to use carbon in order to clear the water up. Maybe it did a little good, but not achieving the desired effect.

I don't recall the numbers that go with my filter, but the guys at the fish store thought my tank was between two sizes, and I opted for the larger version.

So if you can offer any tips or tricks to getting stuff back to normal, I'd be very appreciative.

If u hav ammonia and nitrite reading more than 0, then most prob its bacteria bloom. Doesnt need to be cured tho. It'll go away when the tank has established itself... so perhaps in a week or two (hopefully) the water will run clear again!

yup, mine cleared up about 4 days after i added my starter fish. I used some decorations from my established tank and the water has been in the tank for 2 weeks.
