Hi, just hoping to get back into keeping tropical fish again after 10 years and i have bought a set up which is giving me major headaches hopefully someone can help..

got an small 80 ltr tank ( pets at home ), with an interpet PF2 internal filter (sm chamber got glass stone?? and using interpet bio filter sponge in the main chamber)
i have washed and washed the gravel before i put it in the tank, i fill up with fresh cold water and its crystal clear for about 4-5 hour then it goes cloudy white ( tank only 14 in deep and i cant see the back of it )...i understand the tank needs top cycle but after a week it is still this colour and not looking like changing???????really puzzled never had this problem with my previous tanks.
Oh and i used tapsafe and stress coat on the initial filling like advised from the shop..

Any help would be brill as my ears are getting seriously bent by the eager kids to have fish in this new tank..

Thanks Mushy

Try doing another water change, take all the water out and put fresh in again. Don't worry about stress zyme as it's pointless. Especially with no fish in.

When refilling ask someone to hold their hand under the flowing water to help stop the force of the water dispersing the gravel. Also does your filter have a wool type filter pad? As when the water cycles it will take away the tiny particles of dust in it.

Keep us posted, the only other thing it couldve been was a bacteria bloom, however with no fish in then that's not it.

Also how are you going to cycle the tank, I understand you have eager kids waiting for fish, a fish in cycle is possible however alot of work involved. Have a look through the beginners section in this forum at the ways to cycle tanks. This has been very helpful to me and many people on here.

Good luck!
