hi all
on monday of this week i changed my water 50%
through the days of the week my fish have been acting wierder and wierder eg nose at 45 degree and gills moving faster
when i watch them now they stay at the top of the tank and if they swim down to the bottom its only for a couple of seconds
they also arent eating properly i usually love to watch the competetion from my tiger barbs as the eat there food but now its like they dont even know its there.
another thing is that my water is noticabley cloudier, yesterday(saturday) i went out and when i came back the water was cloudy, i decided to do a water change in the morning. Its the morning now but bigger problems. not only is the water cloudy i think i may have white spot. this is just a thought because i have never had an experience of white spot before and i honestly dont know what it looks like but i can describe that on the front of my tank its hundreds of little white blobs and inside the little white dots are more tiny white dots. i actually now think they might be eggs. anyway can anyone please tell me what may have caused and how to prevent my cloudy water. Thanks. Thom

Cloudy water could be the sign of a bacterial bloom. This can be the result of maintenance problems or damage to the biofilter. It can be accompanied by an ammonia spike and a lowered oxygen level. Large water changes with good technique(gravel cleaning as it goes out, conditioner and temperature matching as the fresh tap comes in) may be called for. A good liquid-reagent based test kit should be used first and results posted here.
