My tank has been cycled for ages and I have had fish living in it for over 3 and a half - 4 weeks

I have guppies, a cory catfish and two ram cichlids in a 45 gallon tank

everything has been fine with it except a slight brown algae outbreak which I am controlling

I don't know why my water has suddenly become cloudy

like 2 hours ago it was fine, then suddenly it changed? why?

Have you tested the water parameters recently? My first thought is that you're having a bacteria bloom...which could be from the algae outbreak?

I have and I have noticed my nitrate is at 80ppm ?!

All you can really do is water change your way through it. Its very common in new tanks, and quite often happens during the cycling process. If you didn't have any fish in I would have said leave it and usually within 48 hours this would dissipate, with the fish in I'd prob do a 30-50% change (the more the better)

The brown algae is normally down to one of a number of factors, too much food, too much lighting or not enough flow in the tank. If you can adjust these factors it may help with the algae. Its very likely the 2 issues are linked.

That is quite high. I would do a 50% water change as soon as possible to bring the nitrates down.
