Hi everyone!
I'm new to the hobby (about 6 months with a tank now).
Here's my dilemma: out of nowhere my tank just went cloudy (not greenish, but more whitish/grey). I do water changes of approx 25% to 30% on a weekly basis -- and up until about 2 weeks ago I was using a siphoning tube to thoroughly clean out the gravel when doing water changes. The tube somehow broke, but I just got a new siphoning tube 2 days ago and did a water change (30%). In addition, when I do water change I also regularly use a stress coat (API) and aquarium salt (also, API). This time, in addition to the stress coat and salt I added a PH Neutralizer (also API) because the ph was down to about 6.5 (kinda low).
Today, I woke up and thought I was hallucinating when I saw my tank (btw, 75gal), because it was very cloudy. The good news is that the fish don't appear troubled by it and were eager to 'chow down', just as always (knock on wood!!!). Here is the rest of the info about my tank:
- 75gal
Aquaclear 110 Filter (used...I bought it, along with the tank on Ebay...must be at least 5 years old, at least)
fish Stock:
- 2 Tiger Oscars (6 1/2" each approx)
- 1 Jack Dempsey (4" approx)
- 1 Parrot Fish (4" approx)
- 1 Geophagus (3" approx)
- 1 Firemouth (1.5 approx)
- 1 Convict (1.5" approx)
- 2 Bristlenose Plecos (3" approx)
(BTW, I have a mesh partition separating the Oscars from all the rest of the fish (Oscars getting approx 45gal of water, the other fish 30gal water).
- I feed the fish usually once -- sometimes twice -- a day.
Could it be that I need another filter to use in addition to the one I have? Could it be that I'm overstocked? Feeding them too much? Is there any conditioner or additive you could recommend? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Does anyone have any suggestion [/font] (P.S. sorry for the long message...just wanted to make sure I provided as much info as possible
