Have you tested your water at all? If so, what were the results?

Before the cloudiness happened, did you add any more fish to your tank?

Does the water smell any different then when it was clean?

It sounds like either dust from the new sand or a bacterial bloom. Try stirring the sand up a bit and see if that makes it worse. That would decide one way or another.

As FHM says, a water test would be good (especially for ammonia) as a bacterial bloom will produce ammonia.

If it smells different (eggy in particular), that would indicate anaerobic activity which would also point towards a bacterial bloom.

There is a pinned article on bacterial blooms if you are interested. A link is in my sig below.

Cheers :good:

Agree with the possibility of a possible bacteria bloom.

Some possible explanations for that is if you added a lot a fish recently...or somehow the bacteria in your filter died off...which would be weird?

Anyways, its sounds like you might have access ammonia in your tank, like BTT suggested...test results would decide that for sure or not.
