Greetings -

I've had trouble getting a straight answer about the cycling process. Is it "normal" for a new aquarium to become cloudy during the break-in cycle? I was careful to clean the gravel, rocks, etc. when I set up the aquarium four days ago. It is now about as hazy as Lake Michigan.

Thank you!

PS: At first the water was a smoky white color - it has now turned a tea colored brown.

Thanks for writing. I'm attempting a fishless cycle.
I have a 30g tank with a Tetra Whisper filter.
The substrate is medium grade gravel.
There is a milky white color in the water.

I look forward to hearing from you.

does the filter have sponges?or do you have differnet types of things in the filter?cant place your one in my oh soo cramed head
wait it out, most likely the ammonia bloom, either it will fix itself in a few days

The filter has a white "Bio-Bag" and in front of that there is a black sponge. It hangs on the outside of the aquarium. Does that help?

thanks
