Ended up taking a large piece of bogwood out my tank today to clean underneath it - its home to 2 polka dot loaches and a clown plec, who had left mountainous piles of poo there. One of my loaches hitched a ride in one of the holes in the wood and I did'nt see him :*) ; despite shaking it gently and taking it out slowly, he hung on in there. I saw him gasping on the towel beside the wood, about 5 mins later, but he was still alive. Panic panic - where's a net when you really need one. I've got him back in the nice clean tank, kept the lights off and added a bit of melafix so fingers crossed, he will be fine. I did'nt realise they could last so long out of water - it was ages! Poor wee Dyson!

Poor little thing! It's an easy thing to do and I can guarantee that you will always perform a thorough check the next time you take anything out of the tank.
I almost sucked up a baby golden sucking loach up my syphoning hose in the past!! :*)
At least he seems to be ok!

I did this with one of my Clown Loaches, I removed all the ornaments and rocks out because I needed to catch a fish because it kept hiding under them, when I went to move the bucket I was putting the ornaments in which I did check before putting them in there and the poor Loach was in the bucket for a while too and just as I saw it a rock slipped in the bucket and landed on it, I was horrified, but since it was still alive I put it back in the tank, and thankfully it is still alive today with no ill effects.

i also did this too with my clown loach, never been so shocked the loach fell out of the log into the bath. i even blasted them with cold water not realising they were in log. am still wondering how they survived and i had no problems after. :dunno:
