Went to my LFS yesterday and saw two bettas, one was really badly nipped and the second one was nipped too. I asked if we could rescue him. When the guy went to get the fish out he noted that the filter wasn't working. (how that accounts for his fins I don't know but he said they wouldn't be putting anything in that tank until it was fixed) I didn't even mention cost but he gave him to me for free. :)

I've called him clipper, I think he could turn into a fantastic fish! Does anyone have any advice for encouraging fin growth?!

keep the water clean and free of ammonia and nitrites. feed him good food and his fins will start healing in no time! until you see new growth, just keep and eye out for redness in the fins or any white,fluffy/fuzziness.
all the best with him...hes a cutie!
cheers

Loving his colours, is he a VT? Hope he heals quick and has a long life with you.

He would go well with my female Deception.

water change

My Betta had torn fins from plastic plants (trying to obtain better ones for him atm) i did the usal water change 2 days ago, and his fins are near enough 100% healed

Rescued one myself today too in a similar state. Feels good doesn't it! :good:

Will be doing my water changes to help the little chap out as suggested.

Is there anything else that can be done to help repairs?

I also rescued one a couple days ago
very pretty colors on that guy

Wow loads of rescues! :D

I though I'd post an update, this is 11 days of growth, I think he's doing very well, despite a jumping incident during a water change!
