I've kitted my tank out initially with some java moss and a cabomba. Sadly, although the moss is doing well, the cabomba didn't and was dying a death so yesterday I took the decision to pull it out, and have a re-think when my cycle is done.

However, I've noticed a tiny piece of it that must have broken away from the main plant is attached to my bog wood. Is this possible, do they do this?

It's more likely to be a piece of moss that has attached itself to the wood. Cabomba won't attach itself, it would only get stuck on it if it was pushed onto it with the current.

If you liked the look of Cabomba, try Sessiflora Limnophila. It looks similar, but is much easier to keep.
It also has the benefit of being on P@H stock list, so should be easy to get hold of.
