Hi - I've just put a bag of 'Cleanwater' filter media in the Jewel filter on advice of lfs. Lfs said to take out the carbon filter and little white top filter and replace them with a 'Cleanwater' bag to help with algae. Question is do I treat this bag of cleanwater stuff the same as the sponge filters when I renew the water in the aquarium (i.e. take out the bag and swish it around in a bucket of the aquarium water before replacing it into the filter casing?) or do I just leave it in there. (I forgot to ask lfs this question) .
On the packet it says it's effective for up to 2 months.
Anyone else use this product?
I don't really have much of an algae problem anyway but lfs said the carbon filter sponges weren't really necessary anyway and this product was much more useful overall.
Any ideas or feedback appreciated.
