Hi, so I will be getting a cleaning service to come to do a full cleaning of the house, because I am lazy slob, the house is a mess and I can afford it (well I can justify spending it).
I never use aerosol sprays, I use a combination of vinnegard and oil for cleaning, but the service might use something different. I guess it is safest to tell them not to use that in the place where the fishtanks are, yes?
But how about other cleaning things, for the floors and stuff, do I need to be worried about the fumes?
All the tanks have lids
Thanks

If the tanks have lids and you aren't going to have them use aerosols in that area I wouldn't be worried at all...

I would cover the tank in plastic, fairly tight and turn off all air filtration to avoid pulling products in.

Are you going to be there when they come and do the cleaning?

I would be apprehensive about letting strangers into my place to clean unattended, especially the first time they come round.

Perhaps call them and ask them what chemicals they use. If they bleach floors or use weird stuff, ask them not to use it because you have fish and the fumes can kill fish.

If you are there with them the first time, you can smell the air and if it stinks of chemicals, it will affect the fish. It could get pumped into the water via air pumps, or land on the coverglass, light units and water. You can contaminate the water by touching the light or cover after it has been contaminated.

If all the fish tanks are in one room, you could close the door and stick a sign on it saying "Live animals in here, please do not enter or clean in here".

I will be there when they come in, and the place where all my fishtanks are is the biggest place in here. I will ask them to dilute the bleach for floor use in this room and not use any aerosols. Since it is fairly warm and they will be doing window clean too, I will have all the windows opened. After the cleaning is done, I will put the cover glass in the dishwasher to get rid of the residual and do a water change
That may be enough of protection?

Never even thought about air pumps sucking stuff in...

I wouldn't let them use bleach in the house unless you have really good airflow because the fumes can kill fish and other pets, as well as damage your lungs and sinuses.
