Cleaning Sand

Donno if post already exist.

I've got white sand in my aquarium and wondered how do you clean it? When I had gravel I used my electric Syphon thingy but I think it will just suck up all the sand.

I'm not sure on using electric ones..but usually you just do a sort of swirling motion a little above the sand, it kicks up the nasty stuff and goes straight up the tube

Swirl your syphon an inch or so away from the sand, that should make any dirt rise & get sucked up

There is a knack to it that you'll get with practice
 
Also, don't forget that any sand you do suck up can be swilled clean in your water change bucket and put back in
