Cleaning Plastic Plants

The time has come to clean my algae ridden plastic plants. I have a couple of large ones that are too fiddly and have to many parts to clean each individual leaf by hand. I am thinking of putting them in a dish with bleach for a while, followed by running them through a dishwasher cycle to make sure there won't be any traces of bleach left.

Would this be ok and would it work? Also, any advice on what dosage of bleach/water would be best?

You could do bleach, or what I do with mine is put them in a basin of very hot (almost boiling) water for half an hour or so. That kills the algae so it goes brown, and you can either rub it off yourself then which is a lot easier once it's dead or with the more "fiddly" plants, I shake them out a bit so that any loose stuff comes off and then put it in the tank again and then the fish pick off the dead algae Just make sure that they are flat and straight in the water otherwise the plastic will soften with the hot water and then as the water cools will set bent
