Cleaning Old Filter.....

Hey all,
Tonight i put the media from my little 50lph filter into my 40L tank to help cycle, so now i have an empty, FILTHY little filter....
so i was wondering if i could use bleach on it, and if so, should i add water to it??
I won't be using it for awhile as i have no new media to put in it yet.

Hot water should do the job perfectly well. It's very rare that fish tank equipment needs bleaching.

I use a flexible brush to get it really clean everywhere.
