Cleaning My Rocks In My Tank ?

my rock was once bright white but now its green i was wondering if i removed the rock and soaked it in diluted bleach 1 part bleach 9 parts water to remove the algae then rinse thoroughly would this be safe i really wanna get them white again

dont soak them in anything other than water, just take a tooth brush to them

tried m8 they still stay green might just sand blast them lol btw read your thread on your change over looking good truck im getting a reef tank at the end of this month and keeping my 110l for tropical cant wait

do you have a pressure washer and some form of clamp/vice? try it on a small one first just to make sure they dont fall apart. have you tried scourers?

just a toothbrush i use but theres loads of little nuts and cranny's so i cant really clean it proper but i might just do what you said cos i have a pressure washer

It's just going to turn green again. My suggestion is to get used to it or get rid of the rock.

what i use is a nail scrubbing brush with the handle and go at it like there's nothing left in the world place in boiling water to loosen up the algae

A little Clorox water won't hurt anything. It should do the job with a weaker solution than you propose using. I use it regularly to sterilize nets and other equipment that I move from tank to tank. Just be sure to rinse it well and let it dry before putting it back in the tank. If you have any doubts that it is rinsed completely, add a bit of declorinator to your final rinse.
