honesty, i wouldn't keep a clean up crew, i would just do the water changes. snails are dirty and some of the apple/mystery snails get HUGE (like, baseball sized, i've seen 'em 
). It can be REALLY hard to tell the species that stay smaller from the species that don't.
As for the shrimp, i've seen a ghost shrimp pick an endler fry out of the water so fast all i saw was a flash of light and baby was gone. They're fast, especially with practice. my ghosties get crazy about food, as soon as it hits the water, they start darting around, skimming the water surface, and jumping on fish to chase them off. not something i would trust with carefully planned fry.
