hi everyone!.. its me again, and sorry to be a pain.. but ive got a great concern and paranoia..

last time i said that my fish was sick, i later found out that it was velvet, so i began treating him for that.. the day after he;s first treatment he had become more lively and had begun eating again.

but yesterday, whilst changing his water i noticed that his scales where a teeny tiny bit bumpy, a teenyteeny tiny bit protruding, like those horrible dropsy pictures ive seen=[.. which is my new paranoia, may clarice have early symptoms of dropsy????>__<''

and since then he hasnt eaten and all day he's bee lying at the bottom of his tank, lopsided.. looking like a sad puppy=[..

so im currently treating him for velvet with 'copper sulphate malachite green' which the aquarium guy prescribed for me.. what should i do next?.. should i continue treating him for velvet first? or move onto treating him for dropsy?.. ah i dont want to be a fish killer :(

please please please if anyone could help me out please share your wisdom!!

ps: a million thanks to tiggle whom has helped me out a lot with clarice, thank you!!!=)

Sounds like he has come down with a bacterial infection which is common sometimes with parasites infestations, if he's laying to oneside on the bottom it's not sounding to good i'm afraid, and once scales start to stick out that the last stage of the dropsy desease, sorry.

sorry wilder i have to disagree, he may just be constipated, try feeding him a chopped up pea, bettas do laze around alot mine do it all the time those fins do get heavy you know, they get depressed very easy aswell, i have a betta whos scales were protruding badly and i fasted him for three days as he wouldn't eat the pea and he is fine now. good luck with your little guy keep us updated and ask if you need anything else

a million thanks!!!=)

a million thanks guys!!! i will try anything, and any medication to cure dropsy, but im just not sure if it is dropsy thats all.. im just paranoid because ive read and seen horrible pictures of it>__<''

he has only been able to eat one pellet of his food today, but thats better than nothing i guess.. i will try to feed him a pea now and see if he eats it.. ive only been able to feed him when he surfaces for a breath of air..thats when i drop the pellet in front of him and he eats it, but most of the time he just swims back down to bottom..

thank you so much to everyone!!=) and im sure ill be back with more concerns>__<'' my friend has offered to lend me her old tank with a heater[as my current one is too small for a heater to be attached] so this will help the healing process ive read..

thank you! thank you! thank you to everyone=)!!!!

Good luck keep us all updated.

thank you for all your concern everyone=).. i think he may be coming around a bit now=)

i managed to feed him 3 pellets of food today, and after his water change today he has much more lively since. he's been swimming around his tank, and he tried to nibble at my finger that i kept hovering over his tank^ ^..

so hopefully this is a sign of recovery but i just have another question, because i am treating him for velvet, how long, approximately, does it take to fully recover? i know this is just the beginning, and the gold dust looking parasite is still visible, but i just wanted to know an approximate time.. any ideas?

i see i see.. welp, i cleaned clarices water today, and he's seems to be more active now. he's been eating a bit more lately, so i guess his appetite is getting better=)..

though, he's scales still seem a teeny tiny bit bumpy, and its more visible at the top of his body=(.. what is the cause of this? is it because he;s ill in general? water is too cold, so its like goosrbumps for fish? its normal and usually like this, but ive never noticed? >__<'' im just paranoid about dropsy=(

his velvet markings is still on his body, and still quite engrossing=( his appetite and active-ness has returned, but i just wish the growth would go away=( but i guess ill jsut have to wait..>__<

You can get bumps with parasites like we do, when they have been sucking on your blood, and it swell up into a bump.

Thank you=) So all I can do now is just wait I guess.

But something awkward happened today, well has been happening all day. Since this morning Clarice has been constantly flaring at nothing, or possibly at me?O__O'' I went to feed him this morning and he was quite aggressive, or should i say defensive, because he kept on flaring. He doesnt usually do this unless I let him look at my small hand mirror. And just before I walked over to have a look at him, and he flared and me again, but then stopped after i came a bit closer.

Is this a side effect of anything? This hasn't happened before so I'm a bit concerned.>__<

Sorry don't no, never kept betta's so couldn't say.

haha Thats great then=).. I was just a tad worried.^___^

Clarice is eating a bit more now, but tends to spit food out and eat it again. For instance, i will feed him two pellets consecutively. He will consume the first pellet fine, but when i feed him the next one, he pounces for it but it drops out of his mouth. It seems like, he wants to eat it, but he's body wont let him? But I'm guessing that is normal since he's still recovering?

He's velvet growth is still there, and i just hope it goes away soon. I just want him to get better quickly so he wont be in pain.. But patience is a virtue, so i shall wait=)..

i also noticed that with his last water change, he had pooped a lot too? That is a good sign too right? I have to do a full water change every three days based on the treatment on I got, so i hope this large collection of fishy faeces is a healthy sign, that maybe he's excreting all the bad bacteria out? =)

Thank you all for you concern, you guys have been great! Thank you!=)

EMERGENCY EMERGENCY!!!

I have an emergency! I just got home and went to feed Clarice, my fighting fish and he has turned white!

He was fine this morning when i left the house, but all of the sudden he has turned white! I'm currently still treating him for velvet, and just changed his water tuday, but this has never occured! He was fine and happily swimming around after his water change this morning, but right now, he's head has lost all colour and is white!

I'm really REALLY scared!>__< There are still signs of velvet [with the gold dust growth on his body, but now it seems like the white marks under his gills have spread to his head!

He ate 2 pellets that i just fed him, but was slower than usual. His was more frisky and lively when I fed him this morning, but this feed just now, he seemed to be confused and looked like didnt know where the food was=(..

Oh please if anyone out there knows whats wrong with my fighting fish please share your wisdom, PLEASE!!!

THANKING EVERYONE IN ADVANCE!

Stress, you didn't overdose the med, are you using an airstone for extra aeration.
