Hi all!

This is just a general question, I was looking at a link that has previously been posted on this forum and seen that you can buy clams over the internet. It claims they help to filter the tank water. Does anyone on here have any? Are they easy to keep? Do they have any special requirments? Thanks in advance for any replies! :good:

It's difficult to keep freshwater clams in aquaria, they need strong currents and are filter feeders so the tank can be messy.
They're best off in a semi-species only tank, strong current, probably a UV filter since they're messy eaters (like with seahorses) and clean water. You could add fish, but they'd be fish who enjoy strong currents :good:

Don't they bury themselves as well? You'd never see them :shout: ...not to mention if one died overnight/over a weekend, it could possibly posion even the strongest of bio-loads
Not for me.

Terry.
