Hi, I was just wondering what Clamped fins actually looks like, because i have a VT (Some of you might remember Custard) and i dont know if its natural or not but his fins just slump down into a clump behind him (maybe because they are heavy?)

Also how does clamped fins form?

Thanks :good:

hmmm what do you mean by clamped fins. When a fish clamps its fins its usually because they're stressed for what ever reason, they close all their fins and hold them as close to their body as they can. Now some bettas may experience clumpy or melded fins, they're fins look like they're stuck together in a glob, and even when they flare their tail or other fins don't open up they stay in the globby clump. This is cause by either poor water quality, old age, or caused by a fish losing their fin and then when it grows back, it grows back all weird.

i must have got the name wrong, hes flaring at the mirror and all of his fins are spread so nothing to worry about :)

Thanks :good:
