One of my female Guppies has had clamped fins for a few weeks now and she has been acting scared whenever I go near the tank and hiding from me. She gave birth a few days ago but has been like this for a couple of weeks now so while she was pregnant and now still after she has delivered. She isnt being bothered by any other fish and is still in the fry tank as I dont want to move her while she is like this. I cannot see any obvious signs of disease but sometimes here poos are opaque and stringy! I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to a good general medicine to treat the tank with.
Thanks- Rachel

if you don't have any corydoras in the tank you can use 1 heaped tablespoon of rock salt or swimming pool salt per 20litres of tank water. leave the salt in there for a couple fo weeks and if she is better then start doing small (10-20%) regular water changes to dilute the salt.

Check the water quality and make sure it is ok and do regular gravel cleans as poor water quality and dirty tank conditions will encourage problems.

I agree check your water quality.
Long stringy whie poo means constipation, bacterial infection, to internal parasites.
I would feed your fish some peas for now.
Is the fish also pale with the clamped fins.

She does look a little pale! Ive got some Aqua Tonic salt but wasnt sure if I could use it as Ive got some baby BN Plecs in there and an Albino catfish. Ive also got some fine household Sea Salt if that would be any better?
Thanks- Rachel

I would issolate her she dosn't sound good.
Can you post your water stats please as its the first thing to rule out.
Is the guppy thin looking.

Ive run out of test strips so will have to get some more tomorrow. Ive got a liquid Ammonia test kit which is showing up as fine and I did a 50%water change yesterday,
Ive got some Anti Internal Bacteria stuff, would it be a good idea to dose her with that along with the salt and peas?

Buy the liquid test kits there the best, test strips are not that accurate,.
Its up to you if you use the bacterial med.

Good luck.
