Can anyone tell me if it's ok to feed cichlids defrosted frozen prawns? UK prawns are more the size of shrimps!!!

Ah sorry, only just seen the reply (almost given up looking). They're a mottly bunch I got with 2nd hand tank. 1 cobalt zebra 1 frontosa (going next week) 1 sajica and 1 not sure but probably new world. They fight like mad so I'm just going to keep the smallest.

really what you need to do is decide which you want to keep, the mbuna, the frontosa or the new world ones. but in answer to your question, yes the mbuna do enjoy prawns, but their main food must be vegetable based.

Thankx.
I am going to sell the frontosa and the cobalt blue and keep the new world.

its a good idea to sell the front unless u got a big tank 40g will be too small to house the front cause they do get big and require lots of room other than that i would get rid of either the new world or the zebra cause u dont want to mix them

New worlds, Most Tanganyikans (tropheus excluded), and lake Malawi Haps are all fine with Prawns. Mbuna are about the only ones I'd be carful with, and even then many would be fine with it. It's fatty foods that cause problems with mbuna, and prawns aren't fatty at all! cheers
