Cichlids

hi,
i am cycling my tank very soon and i have a 30g tank.
i was wondering how many , if any, african cichlids i could get in my tank,
i have been considering dwarf cichlids would they be okay ?

You can't decide how many until you decide what type. Any idea's that have peeked your interest yet?

Speaking generally about most small malawies ei. 5-6" about 4 maximum i thing what are the dimentions. Might not even get malawis. You might want to look at kribs and shelldwellers.

sorry i do not know the measurements of my tank (only the amount of litres).
what is the smallest african cichlid you can buy because i have done some research and i like almost all of the groups.

I think Kribs would do good in there Google Kribs and read up on them see if you like em

Well would you rather riverine fish that come from a more typical tropical biotope like Kribs and Jewels, or would you prefer the rock dwelling Malawi? Would you prefer a tank with a pair of cichlids in it as you would have with the riverines or would you prefer to keep them in higher numbers as with Malawis? The two types of cichlids are very different from each other and the way the tank would be setup is just as different.
