In this 48g - festivum, severum, chocolate cichlid, midnight catfish, senegal bichir

The gold severum used to be a total terror. Now all 3 cichlids get along great. They don't even pay attention to the catfish or bichir.

He likes to steal the catfish wafers (thats why hes so fat)

Now for the snails.. the larger one was bought when it was about the size of the little gold one. It's now enormous.. biggest apple snail I've ever seen. You can see how big it is infront of the skull. In this tank there are about 10 amano shrimp, 1 bamboo shrimp, 5 apple snails, and 2 croaking gouramis. + tons of ramshorns.

I'm glad there's finally peace in that 48g tank. For the longest time that severum was trying to kill every fish I put in that tank.

Great cichlids Vancouver. The big snail looks like a Haustrum from what I can tell. Expect it to get bigger.

Is haustrum just a species of apple snail? or totally different type of snail altogether?

I think the croaking gouramis killed all my shrimp. I had about 10.. Haven't seen any of them since.. Saw 1 this morning freaking out all over the tank.. WHO KNOWS!

Haustrums are Pomecea haustrum instead of Pomeca haustrum.
So they are in the same genus, just a lot bigger. More info can be found on applesnail.net.

I belong to applesnail.net, just haven't been posting there as the site seemed to have slowed down quite a bit.

When I bought it, it was tiny, and had horrible holes all over it's shell. Within a few months though it's grown enormous and eats almost non stop.
