Cichlids In A 25 Gallon Long ?

yeah i have a 25 gallon long tank. and i was wondering if i could fit some smaller breed of cichlid in there if there are any of that sort. i was really hoping to get a pair but if there is no smaller breeds then i guess i won't. if this is crazy then is there any other fish that i could keep in a 25gallon that are simmilar to a cichlid or just a solitary fish that would be alright in there. thanks for the help. don't think i'm crewl to fish or anything because that's why i am asking! thanks alot!

Shelldwellers are great for tanks to a minimum of 10 gallons. You can definately get them for your 25 gallon.

Some of the smaller julidochromis species from lake tanganiyika could fit also. I plan a pair for my 30 long...

When the present incumbents snuff it (a long time off, I hope), I'm going to convert my 15 gal to multies (neolamprologus multifasciatus, shelldwellers, Fella keeps them); they are great little fish with a lot of character.

yeah rams are pretty awesome fish. if i get any i think i will get those. but for my next question.... when i get a pair how do i sex them to make sure i don't get 2 males and have some trouble down the road when they mature and kill each other?

stick with the rams, you wont regret it!



as for sexing them, the female has a shorter black dorsal fin and its not as obvious as the males.

think there bellys are a yellowish or redish colour too.

does anyone know if walmart has ever carried rams??i know mine has jack dempseys, oscars and convicts but i don't think i've never seen rams........
