Okay, I am currently cycling a 30g tank. I thought since I already have peaceful community tank, that I would make this one a cichlid tank, since it is larger. Now I know that a lot of cichlids get way to large for a 30g. So that's what I am here for, I was hoping some of you could tell me about some cichlids that I can put in my 30g. Thanks :D

Dwarf cichlids, I presume from the name. Apistogramma ramirezi, kehole cichlid, angels (perhaps 1 pair) Kribs.

Not sure about these, but looking in a book, these fish are community and they stay under 4" (though the angels might have a different max size).

Rainbow cichlids, firemouths, cons, jewel cichlids, and many dwarf cichlids. Be aware that the larger cichlids I mentioned can get very territorial, especially when breeding :)

African cichlids. Lake malawi or lake tanganyika, take your pick. They are all beautiful fish and don't grow huge.

So many fish to choose from.

Just pick the method of breeding, the max size, and the coloration. that should hel;p narrow it down. :D

Then do research on those that are left and take your pic.

Thanks for the replys, I will sure to read up on all of the fish everyone mentioned ;) . I was just looking for a cichlid that was colorful (doesn't have to be a lot of different colors, just an eye catcher) and has a good personality. Which I have heard most cichlids have. :)

Angelfish  Very colorful, just make sure your tank is 18" high b/c they get very tall!
