I think a pair of apistogramma borelli might be OK in a 60cm tank, either by themselves or with 2-3 pencilfish as dithers but nothing else.

If you're thinking shell dwellers, a pair of Neolamprologus multifasciatus should work for you for quite some time. It will be many months before you need to worry about removing juveniles. This would have to be a species tank.

Cheers everybody, I think I should go to the fish shop and have a look.

Im quite new to chichlids and things. I was wondering if 2 blue rams would go into a 60L tanks with a few bottom feeders? Sorry to hijack the thread but just wanted to see wat other ppl thought of that. Rams are male and female. What do ppl think of that?

Im thinking of setting up a multifasciatus tank but haven't been able to track any down locally. Youre best bet might be to try some online places that would by courier. In the meantime http://www.shelldwellers.com/ has plenty of great info!

Ok I am going to get a couple of Apisto's not sure which one's probably the smallest one's I can!

I got one cave ready just need to make up another one.

Which tetra's would be cool to give the apisto's some security?

Cheers.

Anything really, as long as its not too big. Try black neons, neons, cardinals, black phantoms, basically all of the common small (under 5cm) tetras will be fine. Get a group of about 8, and along with the cichlids this will be fine.
To make the tetras themselves more comfortable, make sure the tank is planted (not nessserilly real) with open areas for swimming.

cheers, as I have a smaller tank I might go for the smaller tetra's or the galaxy rasbora (they got them in my LFS!).

Its planted v.heavily at the moment. Just need to make a 2nd cave as I only have one at the moment. Are Oto's ok with Apisto's too?

Yeh ottos are fine, a pair or trio would be suitable. Ignore what I said about the 8 tetras, with the ottos have about 4 or 5.
Have you been down to the shop to have a look at what sort of fish you would like?

My Nitrite is beginning to come down now so I think I will be about a week away from being cycled
