cichlids do you prefer

I'm setting up a vetinarys tank 75 gallons and its probaly going to be African cichlid since saltwater is out of the question I was wondering what kind of cichlids you like.

Hard for me, but seeing as I only have 1 tang in the house at the moment, I had to go with malawi.

As far as aesthetics go there is no topping Malawi - they undoubtedly make the some of the nicest possible show tanks.

As far as behavior, character, and diversity go though, Tanganyikan hands down.

In other words, shallow people like Malawi.

Lake Tang gets my vote.

Malawi are nice to look at but IMO Tang shell dwellers are some of the most awesome fish to own in terms of personality, entertainment and amount of attachment created between fish and owner. I also prefer the shape of occies to any Malawi I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't a stab at people who keep Malawi cichlids or to say they don't have any personality, etc. Just saying that in my opinion they don't hold a candle to Tang shell dwellers, as most Malawi enthusiasts would probably think about Tang cichlids
