my firemouth and 1 of my C. spirulus are showing strange behaviour which is almost as if they have " paired up" they have claimed a territory under 1 of the mangrove roots which they defend together . they also keep getting side by side and doing this funny dance almost like courtship dance. what with them 2 doing that and my blue acara fighting with the bogwood i think my water company must of put lsd in the supply instead of chlorine!

They may well have paired up, if so you may even find yourself with some hybrid fry

well im pretty sure the spirulus is male no idea about the firemouth tho. altho how would that work? i thought firemouths were rock spawners and spirulus cave spawners?

right now the spirulus is furiously bailing sand out from under the mangrove root while the firemouth looks on

I saw a you tube video of a green severum and I think blue acara spawning. So it does happen the eggs did not hatch. Try looking it up. I think I typed in blue acara. If I find it I will send the link.

I have heard of other types of fish pairing up. It's cute.

they stick together like glue in their "love nest " i swear my fish get stranger every day

im now pretty sure they are indeed male spirulus and female firemouth as the spirulus has slight nochial hump and the firemouith appears to have ovipositor/breeding tube showing from vent. i will be watching them closely to see what happens
