i recently got a pleco on sat and went on a vacation on monday. on tuesday night, i had no algae on my tank. monday morning, i had alot of green and dsome brown patches of algae, but the pleco took care of it quickly. my brother has a 10 gallon tank with 4 cichlids, and he has alot of algae, and wanted a cichlid in his too. i was wondering if cichlids would be compatible a cichlids.

I think you're asking if you can put a plec in with the 4 cichlids your brother has in his 10g tank?? If so, then no. there is no room for any more fish in there. I don't know what type of cichlids your brother has in there, but the smallest cichlids I know get to a couple of inches, and the smallest plec is gonna be 3-4 inches. Couple that with the fact that plecs and cichlids are two of the messiest fish around, and that won't be a very healthy tank!! Sorry mate, but at least it gives him a good excuse to get a bigger tank!!!!! :D

agreed

the smallest of plecs still make enough poop to put amost every fish to shame... iv never known a fish poop so much, or a fish that likes to play 'decorations' with it. :*)

also like stated a 10gal with 4 cichlids sound soverstocked imo... unless you have a realy god filter goin... even then its gonna be crammped? :dunno:

i was told only to put 3-4 in a 20 somthin gal tank... and these were smallish fish.. :S so i wouldnt thinkof addin a pleco to all that..
