Cichlids And Other Fish

some can, some can't.... cichlids are the biggest group of fish and there are hundreds of different ones each with they;re own personalities and requirements. they range from dwarf cichlids that only reach an inch or two and are peaceful to things like oscar's that get to a foot long, need a massive tank and eat anything that'll fit in they're mouth, and just about evetrything else you could think of in between! :D

your tanks around 40g i think so there are definately some cichlids you can keep. Are there any in particular your looking at?

i saw a ram cichlid and liked the colours but i then read that they only live for 9 months and are difficult to keep? :/

can cichlids be mixed with other breeds of fish and if so what types?
tank size is 175 litres and no fish in as yet.

nah that's rubbish for starters. Ram's are easy enough to keep, peaceful community fish. Your tanks easily big enough for them. Don't know the exact lifespan but definately not 9 months, maybe closer to 5-10 yrs. There are other ram's but here's a profile for the bolivian ram which is quite a popular one. :D
