Hullo all,

I need some sinking food for my 'lids.
My LFS fails to stock it so Iam about to buy some online, however, I dont know which size I want-mini, medium, or large. I have never seen the food so I don't know how big they are.
My fish are 3 to 3 and a half inches long.

Thanks for your time

Doris

Also I was thinking cichlids natural algae scraping behaviour.
So what I did was, I cooked them peas as usual, but when I had taken the outer casing off the pea instead of just droping the 2 halves in my tank I smeared them over the rocks in the tank.

The fish love scraping the pea off and it's a treat to watch.

I love the Hikari line of foods, go with the medium size the smaller ones may have to nibble on it a bit but IME they just gulp the mini pellets down and you have a hard time getting enough for everyone.

I found the mini-pellets worked well with juvie L.caeruleus though since they have such small mouths.

If you can find it, I'd highly recommend New Life Spectrum (NLS) Cichlid formula, it only comes in mini-pellets (I believe) but it's excellent food for both mbuna and haps, one of my favorite staples. :good:

The medium pellets are funny as the fish cant swallow them whole so they swim with them in their mouths like a dummy.

I know, it was funny to watch my little Metriaclima estherae eat a floating pellet.

He would grab a pellet and take it down towards the gravel, then it would escape him and float up, so he would chase it and bring it down again.

Over and over for a few minutes until he could swallow it.
