So i have a large tank, but it is filled with non-aggressive freshwater fish. Cichlids seem really cool to me, and i was wondering if i could keep any species in a 15gal. maybe just one? maybe a small school? Rams? Firemouth?I dont know much, thanks for the help

firemouths are a nono, rams are a maybe.

Is the "large" tank the 15 gallon, or a different tank all together? There are a few cichlid species that are not aggressive, bolivian rams, angelfish, and keyhole cichlids to name a few, that will be fine in a tank around 30 gallons or more.

is the 15 gallon is a tank in itself, without any other fish, I do believe shell dwellers will be fine, like I said in the thread you made in the old world forums

What is the foot print of the 15 gallon. That is quite small and the only thing would maybe be a pair of bolivian rams or dwarf apistogramma depending on the species and your water parameters. What is the foot print and what are your water stats like?

the 15 is not my large tank! nonononono haha, and sorry for posting in both sections, just wanted to check the new and old varieties. The water is always 7ph, slightly soft, 0 nitrate ammonia and nitrite, i keep the water quite nice.

What is the footprint of the 15 gallon then. That is important as most dwarf cichlids hang out at the bottom and their territory is horizontal not vertical.

Unless the tank is listed as a "tall", you can fit just about any dwarf apistogramma in there. Not as a school, but as a breeding pair with a few dither fish.
