this is not me asking for help but if you have any tips feel free to share. ok well i now have one of the breeding tanks its a 40 gallon tank it is 36ins long and it is 18 ins wide and 16ins tall i want to do a pair of salvini and yes i do know they can get 8 to 9 ins but it very unlikely for them to get that size and most of the time stay 5 to 6 ins but not uncommon to get up to 7ins so i think it will be a fun experiment to try it should be ok to do since they only get about the size of the fire mouth cichlids that i will also be breeding so now i think i will be breeding some black convict cichlids fire mouth cichlids rainbow cichlids and my personal favorite the salvini cichlids so share you experience with breeding cichlids what type have you bred and how did it go thanks for reading this

good to see your moving forword with the breeding set up I always love to see people breeding cichlids since they are a great fish.
only tip I got for ya is make sure you have the fry tanks up and running before your cichlids start to breed since its not a fun thing to rush once the fry are ready to be moved into them.
so good luck and please keep us updated on the whole thing :)

Hi, I've only bred convicts and rams! You can do a ram breeding pair easy in a 15 gallon, but a little fiddling with water parameters are required. Mine spawned after 5 months of pairing, conditioning and playing with the water chemistry. I only got one spawn and 6 of those little rams are still with me today. Convicts on the other hand will breed in anything. Get a 40 gallon, drop 8 in, wait a month and youll have your spawn. I wouldn't even suggest moving the fry to a separate tank, just leave them in its more interesting that way. When they get to about one inch scoop them out, and trade them to your LFS for a bottle of your favorite food or water conditioner :)
