I have the job of baby sitting my sons' cichlids. They are assorted. He started with 6 or 7. During the last year the group decided to single one out and pick at it until it died. They moved their gravel around until it was buried. I never even noticed until he said something.
He decided to get another to replace it, it had stripes and was blue compared to the solid colours.
It hasn't been 3 weeks and they killed it.

My son changed the large rocks around to give them more places to hide but I think it gives them more places to defend. I wonder if you have suggestions. Also I wonder if we put plants in it would help. He took the plants out shortly before this started.
thank you for your help ahead of time, Kathy

Wrong section ask this in the African cichlid tank.

I would say no need to get an more fish. The tank might no be large enough.

Welcome to TFF MyGully. A little more information would be helpful. such as tank size and any species names of the fish and we would be able to help you out more. i understand you're doing this for your son tho. if rearranging the tanks decor doesnt really have any affect i would maybe recommend a divider. they do look ugly tho lol (i have one in my 55, til my oscar gets bigger). other than that im not sure of what to do. like snowflake said, try posting this in the old world cichlid section, which can be found on the home page.

I agree that we need tank dimensions and species names before we can help you sort out the problem. If you or your son don't know their names, could you post pictures so we can ID them?

thanks, I will try to post asap the tanks size and any other info I can gather. remember it's Christmas and I am mum, thank you. Kathy
