hi guys i have been looking at tiger barb for quite some time now and absolutely love them. i was thinking of putting about 7 in my tank but not quite sure on what other fish would be ok living with the tiger barb?

Anything that doesn't have long fins should be fine, but I'd recomend uping the numbers to 10 :good:

ok thanks for the advice rabbut now should i purchase the tiger barb all in 1 go or should i gradually buy a couple at a time and introduce them to the tank over a period of time? does it also matter about males to females ratio?

Loaches, Plecos, Rainbowfish, Gouramis and mollies should all be fine with Tiger Barbs

Fishless cycle with ammonia, then add all your fish at once :good: There is a pinned thread above explaining how to do this, assuming you don't know already  Some Gouramis are not likely to do well with tiger barbs, so state any you like before purchase. The Laced Gourami group is at risk, but this does not cover all Gourami types :good: .
From an agression point of view it is best to add all at once. Barbs have a hirachy, so adding new fish will put the new fish under stress, as they need to establish themselves in the pecking order before the existing fish will stop bullying them.
