Hi. I bought a 35 gallon hexagon tank from a yard sale. I've checked everything and it seems there were no problems with the tank. Now I'm wondering what kind of fish tank mates/objects I should put into the tank. I have a piece of driftwood that is waterlogged waiting to go into the tank and I'm planning on getting some plants as well. For the fish, I was thinking about putting some angel fish and a siamese algae eater, or any other algae eating fish that is effective like plecos, or possibly a red tail shark. I also wanted to add a small crayfish. Those were just suggestions; I want to see some other suggestions since my range of varied fish is limited, if that makes sense. I'd like to hear about any fish except tetras and barbs; I have both in different tanks. And if the crayfish is okay, what plants are strong enough to withstand it? I know crayfish will destroy the plants, or else I'll just forget about the crayfish. Thanks in advance! If I sound confusing, please let me know so I can clarify.

You might want to rethink the Angelfish, the Red-tailed Black Shark, and the crayfish. The Angel would do best in a pair. The pairing would be the result of raising several together and letting them pair off naturally. You don't have the room for that in your tank. The shark would take over the whole tank as his territory, and would terrorize the other fish. The crayfish is a scavenger/predator, and would eat any fish he could catch (along with some of your plants.) The Siamese Algae eater is a good choice for your tank. Your tank is tall, so I would be sure to pick some fish for the top, some for the middle, and some for the bottom. Nothing too big. The possibilities are endless....
