Hi all,

Im about ready to pick up my first betta.....my question is how do you tell if they are ok when you go to look at the fish store? i have seen some that are in tiny tanks (far too small imo) and look really depressed, are there any tell tale signs that i should look out for before i bring one home?

Thanks
Em x

Assuming you want the healthiest one possible, look for full finnage, at least slightly active (maybe take a mirror with you), no fungus/ich/sticknig out scales, but its really a metter of finding one that you like.

Thats great, thank you.

I cant wait to have one they are sooo beautiful

Also you may want to ask the owner or employee which are newer because they are usually a tad bit healthier.

Just make sure they don't have any spots on them, or white tufts... make sure their tail looks full... IE doesnt have pieces missing at the ends.
