Can anyone tell me about these? I'm picking up a tank tomorrow and its coming with a "chocolate chilli cichlid". Its about 9" long. I've never kept cichlids before, but I don't particularly want to start either. I want the tank for breeding other species in, so the cichlid will be up for sale. I don't know how much it'd be worth either. Can anyone offer any advice so I can keep it healthy in the meantime?

There's not such a thing. There is a chocolate, or emerald cichlid. Smaragdikirjoahven. I have one, and she is huge.
if you have no intends of keeping it, you should be fine. I'm giving mine away because it nipps on my golden spot pleco. Towards any other fish it has been nice, but they may eat small fishes such as tetras. I've been feeding mine with Tetra cichlid sticks and frozen prawns.

ah ok, thats what the guy said it was called, but I've been googling for a while now and not managed to find anything remotely similar to it on there. The "chocolate cichlid" is quite close, but its a teeny bit more blue than that really. We're taking some massive containers to bring some tank water home with us, so hopefully it'll be ok for a few days until I can arrange for someone to come pick it up. Thanks for replying x
