I was just wondering would aquatic plants be ok in ordinary tapwater(nothing added)? Would the chlorine do anything to them (a tiny amount) because some fish/plants seem ok with chlorine...

Ok, thanks. Also the water is heated etc. But its just tapwater (not conditioned) stocking list in sig. Also a mate of mine is keeping a couple of goldfish, and he has never conditioned the water, and hes had them for around 3-4 years (still alive).

My tank has all the things of a tropical (because it is), but the water is not conditioned and they seem fine (tanks been running for a good couple of months now). Also ive only had one death, and thats due to dropsy.

...Is their chlorine in all tapwater?

The plants will be ok in untreated water, but are you keeping fish in untreated water?

if you are using untreated tapwater in a tank, the chlorine/chloramine will kill the bacteria in the filter, what are the water stats?

The stats are all fine (check them daily), the tank is cycled, and as i said the tanks been running for a good couple of months. Are you sure their chlorine in all tapwater?

A mate of mine is keeping goldfish in tapwater, and hes had them for around 3-4 years (never conditioned the water, their still alive now.) they seem very active and healthy.

if you are in the UK, yes. You can usually check with the water supplier as to what the water stats are and what they add to it.

I kept a goldfish in a 15litre tank when I was a kid  doesn't mean its good for the fish though

15L tank that seems alittle small...
The goldfish seems very happy, no signs of stress etc.

Exactly, my goldfish looked happy and lived for 16 years, like I said, it doesn't mean its right though keeping them in a tank with untreated water/possibly a filter with no bacteria on it.

i would be more concerned about your tank as its yours and the fact you have been adding untreated water to it. How often and how much water do you change?
